If the transformer oil are diagnosed to have an <strong><em>unacceptable quantity of contaminants<\/em><\/strong> such as <em><u>acids, sludge, moisture and dissolved gases,<\/u><\/em> prompt treatment of the oil is required to prevent accelerating the deterioration of the transformer itself. Note that damage inflicted on a transformer cannot be reversed (unless it is stripped down and refurbished totally), but prompt and proper treatment of the contaminated oil can stop or\u00a0at least slow down the deterioration process.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong><u>OIL TREATMENT METHODS AVAILABLE<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Oil treatment options currently available are as follow<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Filtration\/Purification<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-94\" src=\"http:\/\/www.txmservices.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Filtration-1024x443.png\" alt=\"Filtration\" width=\"800\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/txmservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Filtration-1024x443.png 1024w, https:\/\/txmservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Filtration-300x130.png 300w, https:\/\/txmservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Filtration-768x332.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Filtration will remove most free water (includes some dissolved water) and some trapped solid matter. It has major weaknesses. As the oil in the transformer is not treated chemically, it does <em>not solve the sludge problem<\/em>. More importantly, the process <em>cannot remove dissolved oxidation by-products (like dissolved gases and acids<\/em>) in the oil.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Transformer Oil Regeneration (TOR)<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-95\" src=\"http:\/\/www.txmservices.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Regeneration-1024x435.png\" alt=\"Regeneration\" width=\"800\" height=\"340\" srcset=\"https:\/\/txmservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Regeneration-1024x435.png 1024w, https:\/\/txmservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Regeneration-300x127.png 300w, https:\/\/txmservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Regeneration-768x326.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This basically involves three distinct processes; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">heating,\u00a0<\/span><em><u>absorption (reclamation) and vacuuming.<\/u><\/em> The oil goes through the heating process which transforms the oil in the transformer into solvent for the sludge\/oxidized by-products from the tank and solid insulation. Essentially, the heated oil dissolves such contaminants which otherwise the oil at normal temperature is unable to do so. The next process involves the removal of acids, sludges and other contaminants from the oil via the reclamation process.
